The History

After World War 2 was over, Bob Hewes returned from his tour of duty and together with his friends, he thought of owning his own fishing boat to take out as and when they pleased. However, none of them had too much cash to spare, so they decided to build their boats themselves with scrap aluminum and other materials they got from a Spokane junkyard.

However, as is sometimes the case, once his friends had constructed their boats, they didn’t really want to work on Bob’s boat or any other boat. So Hewes recruited his younger brother Ralph and together they built aluminum fishing boats that could be depended on.

To this day, Hewescraft continues to be a family-run business, now being managed by the second generation of Hewes manufacturers. Sons Bill and Dave Hewes carry on the business run by their forefathers and treat customers like members of the family.

The Boats

Hewescraft boats are manufactured in their factory in Colville, Washington, where they make a wide variety of different styles of boats for several different activities. The boats are between 16’ to 26’ in length and they’re equipped with the latest modern technology as well as the finely-hewn construction that has made the company such a favorite amongst its customers. Roomy decks and additional flotation in the hulls are top priorities in their crafts. Each boat undergoes extensive and rigorous testing to ensure quality and safety.
